An Associate Principal at Eight Inc. is an exceptional, talented professional in the design field. A high-energy, entrepreneurial spirit and proven success in creating design at the highest level. An Eight Inc. Associate Principal must be able to interact, listen and work successfully with Clients, conduct professional presentations and guide the Eight Inc. projects to successful completion.

The Principal must be able to direct other creative personnel within the studio, maintain professional relationships and shall be involved in reviews of studio personnel. Principals are able to communicate and share our ideas with everybody at 8, our clients and the outside world.

This professional must have polished and confident presentation skills with the ability to interact with a variety of disciplines from design, through construction or final implementation of our various scopes of work.

This role will be reporting to the Executive Principals of Eight Inc.



Develop client base within the Beijing studio in conjunction with 8 Inc. Business Development Director
Provide billable support to another Principals projects
Comply and enforce all existing Eight Inc. set global business policies
In collaboration with global Business Development Directors, continue to develop client base for all Eight Inc. offices
Maintain and manage existing local Client relationships
Identify new business areas to explore
Attend business related conferences, events and leadership activities
Provide/add professional expertise in new design areas
Develop and write new business proposals.
Review briefing materials / plans of potential new Client and principles.
Review Client needs and provide ongoing support to ensure the development of
solid, long-term client relationships.
Develop and manage the project strategy, plan and budgets.
Management of timing, development and implementation of a wide range of
Conduct research as needed in order to meet business-planning goals
Be proactive in identifying potential partners.


Lead and inspire the existing team to ensure company growth
Must be a professional and respect all staff in the organization
Work with global Directors and provide overall design team leadership
Financial planning and budgeting with Principals
Relationship management with all staff
Practice effective cost management
Help define future creative direction
Be part of the Eight Inc. vision

Business and Financial Planning:

Work with Finance to forecast revenues and costs
Provide long-term vision for projects
Establish systems for higher quality projects
Provide fee proposals
Evaluate feasibility of individual projects
Drive profitability
Review use of resources


A gifted, mature Business leader, with proven problem-solving skills
Excellent interpersonal skills with keen attention to detail
Self-starter with high degree of initiative
Ability to prioritize and multi-task, handling several Clients at one time
Ability to analyze issues thoroughly and outline problems
Team player with excellent oral and written communication skills
Ability to adapt to new environments and interact with all levels of management
Ability to handle difficult Client situations with finesse and tact
Must be bilingual
